Malaysia My Second Home

#

Malaysia My Second Home Program is promoted by the Government of Malaysia to allow foreigners who fulfill certain criteria, to stay in Malaysia for as long as possible on a multiple-entry social visit pass.

The Social Visit Pass is initially for a period of ten (10) years, and is renewable.

It is open to citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia, regardless of race, religion, gender or age. The program allows applicants to bring with them their spouses, unmarried children below the age of 21 and parents above the age of 60 as dependants. Foreign spouses of Malaysians and expatriates who wish to retire in Malaysia after expiry of their Employment Passes are also eligible to apply to stay in Malaysia on this program.

Applicants can now apply to join the MM2H program without the use of an agent. Those who are interested in joining the MM2H program can now apply directly themselves without the use of an authorized agent. The main benefit of doing this is you can avoid the initial fees charged by the instructed agent. However, the use of an authorized MM2H agent does make the process simpler and avoids time consuming mistakes/omissions on paperwork.

The process of joining the MM2H program includes a large amount of paperwork and includes visits to government departments that can be quite daunting. Anywhere, the choice is yours now !

One thing that immediately cries out to people that come to live in Malaysia is how realistically priced property is in comparison to its Asian neighbours. From 2010 the government have re-instated a low form of Real Property Gains Tax - RPGT. Therefore any property purchased in Malaysia by MM2H Malaysia My Second Home visa holders or expatriates will be required to pay 5% of the capital gain on the property upon disposal within the first 5(five) years from the date of purchase and the minimum property purchase price for foreigners will be RM500,000; pending on current and impending changes such as Selangor has raised the minimum purchase price to RM500,000.00; Sarawak to RM 350,000.00 and certain areas of Pahang to RM 750,000.00
